Toshiba shuts down laptop business, what’s the reason?
Japan’s leading technology company Toshiba has officially announced that it will no longer make laptops and computers after selling all its shares.
Story is that, in 2018, a Japanese company Sharp bought 80% shares of Toshiba computer and laptop manufacturing company for 36 million dollars.
Toshiba has since issued a statement stating that Sharp has bought the remaining 20% of Toshiba’s shares.
Toshiba introduced its first T1100 laptop in 1985, which weighed 4 kg and had a 3.5-inch floppy disk. Now, Toshiba stop making laptops. Toshiba sold more than 17 million computers in 2011, but sales fell to just 1.9 million in 2017.
